A Funny Dolch Words Book #2: Stories, Poems, Fables, Sight Word Searches

very good
This is such a helpful book. I like the idea of fables written in easy to read words. They teach lessons and entertain. The stories make us laugh while we understand the mistakes being made in the stories. We can learn to laugh at our mistakes and learn to do better. These three books teach reading and they teach values.

Great little book
What a clever idea to use fables. So often, short stories for kids are kind of pointless. They are barely worth reading, but fables have had values which have lasted for centuries! These short stories are well worth reading over and over again.

This is titled "book 2" like for second grade but most teachers teach these words in first grade. I guess they mean that in second grade they should recognize the second grade words and earlier ones instantly, but they should know pre-primer through third grade by the time they finish first grade. That is, if they are going to read well.

Dolch words are words that must be recognized so that kids can become good readers. These words are found in almost every single book but some of them can't be sounded out like "is" sounds like "iz."

"Threw" sounds like "blue." Then you have "on" and "own" and so forth.

This has short delightful stories and fables using the words. It has all of the pre-primer through second grade words without using any words on more complicated levels.

It even has some word searches. The searches only use words which are right side up and they are NOT backward. We don't want kids to read backward so why encourage them to do it in word searches? I'm glad this writer thought of that.

A Great Book for Beginning Readers
My granddaughter is a beginning reader. I found this book to be a wonderful way for her to learn new words gradually. Once a new word was introduced, it is used throughout the book in other stories. It reminded me of the old Sally, Dick and Jane books that I read in first grade. My granddaughter's favorite story was the one entitled "Under the Can." She squealed with delight when she discovered what was "under the can." The "word find" exercises in the book were fun for my granddaughter also. They were a good way for her to practice finding and reading the new words she had learned in the book.

You need this book.
If your child isn't reading on grade level in third grade or older, you need this book. If your child is beyond the picture book age, you need this even more. Hey, it is even great for children or adults learning English as a second language.

Why is it great for older kids and adults? It has fables and other stories which appeal to all ages. Fables were first told to adults centuries ago. Now we think of them as picture books but we need to remember their lessons all of our lives like "united we stand" and other expressions that are part of our language. Also, it is great for older kids and adults because there are no pictures so they don't feel like the book is for little kids. The ages of the characters aren't told. Most of the characters are animals.

What a clever idea to use fables. So often, short stories for kids are kind of pointless. They are barely worth reading, but fables have values which have lasted for centuries! These short stories are well worth reading over and over again.

Like I said, if I were learning English for the first time, I would want this book and the other two books in this series (books 1 and 2).

General Lee and Santa Claus: An Adaptation

Confederate Christmas
Robert E. Lee and Santa Clause is a very moving and inspirining story about christmas, Santa, a war, a General and southern children. Having ancestors who fought this war and being a Civil War Reenactor it was a very special story for me.

A Christmas classic for lovers of history and folklore!
GENERAL LEE AND SANTA CLAUS is a charming tale from a bygone era in our history. Its Americana appeal, wit and charm make it a holiday classic for anyone who holds dear the treasured folklore of our nation. The unlikely pairing of General Robert E. Lee and Santa Claus is as surprising as it is sentimental. It is a tale of reconciliation, hope, wonder, and a little Christmas magic. GENERAL LEE AND SANTA CLAUS is a must-buy for this holiday season and many others to come!

Brian Lee
Brian Lee is my A-Level graphics teacher, and I have seen all of the original drawings for this book, and they are all incredibly detailed...the book is fun, and the illustrations are excellent.
This was one of my favourite books when I was younger and I would reccomend anyone else to BUY THE BOOK!

My 2 1/2 Year Old Loves It
My two and 1/2 year old absolutely loves this book. He really loves the holograms and finding each character in the pictures. Despite the title, it has become a bedtime staple for him.

A shame it went out of print....
I have been trying to locate this book ever since I was twelve and a friend lost the only copy my family owned. It goes beyond the silly magic tricks and slight of hand. It is full of simple, little things you can use in any gathering to impress and entertain. I only remember a couple things from the book, but I've used them over and over with great success. If you are the type of person who can't play a game of pool without taking three of the balls from the pockets and juggling them, this book is for you!

Amaze your friends! Astound your enemies!
I was delighted by this rather thick book as a child, although it contains several tricks and practical jokes for any age reader to try. Some suggestions are as simple as sprinkling pepper on the surface of a bowl of water, telling a clever little story about your magical powers and then, with one touch, causing the pepper to flee from your finger....you have to read the book to find out how! Other "feats", while a little more involved, are fiendishly clever. I was entertained reading it by the mere thought of attempting some of the cunning chicanery described. I also discovered the "how to" of many "how-did-they-do-that?" party-tricks I have seen done before. It's nice to be in on the joke!

God's New Testament
Published in Paperback by Living Stream Ministry (01 September, 1995)
Author: Witness Lee

God's Economy
The entire Bible of sixty-six books and especially the New Testament is a revelation of one "basic, central, and crucial matter: the New Testament economy of God." The word economy comes from the Greek, oikonomia, meaning household arrangement, household administration, or dispensation. God's New Testament economy is simply His arrangement, His administration, to dispense Himself in His divine Trinity into His chosen people to be their life, life supply, and everything. In order to accomplish this dispensing, the Triune God has taken seven major steps. Chapter by chapter Witness Lee delineates these steps showing how each one is for the purpose of God's dispensing.

How marvelous to know the main subject of the New Testament! The matter of God's New Testament economy is the key to understanding the Bible. All the major and minor biblical truths fit into and are tied together by the basic and central thought of God's New Testament economy.

This book has been immensely helpful to me in having an overall view and understanding of the Bible as a whole. It is the all-inclusive explanation to the many questions I've had concerning numerous biblical truths.

A book open to us what is the central line of the Bible
I have to admit that this is not an easy book. To read it you have to be serious to the Lord and always look outo Him that He will supply you enough grace and lead you through all the pages. This is the real blessing. I got this book not long after I was saved (1986) but it was not until 1992 that I could really read through it. There are totally 44 chapters in the book. In chapter 1 the author gives an introductory word about a very important term "God's economy"(Greek word "oikonomia" in Ephesians 1:10) which means God's plan and His household administrantion. Most amazing is that startig from chapter 20 the author touches the topic of "Seven Spirits"(from the book of Revelation) which I don't see many bible teachers did. Also 19 chapters expound the ultimate sign in the Bible, the New Jerusalem, in an extremely clear way. My feeling is that this is the crystallized interpretation of the Holy Word. Any serious seekers on the earth should get one copy of this and read through it with a praying spirit. The blessing will be pour down from heavens. Another big volume of book (also by Witness Lee ) which contains more details is "The Conclusion of the New Testament". It took me five years to finish it should also be recommanded. God bless us. Amen!!

God's healing for the mind and the heart.
I am so blessed that this author has shared the strength, humility, and dignity of a physically challenged woman. Every time I read this book, I am refreshed. This book will encourage and rejuvenate everyone who reads it.

The Power of Inner Most Feelings at its Best .....
To read this book is to go into a lifetime of ones most inner feelings and thoughts. I truly admire and appreciate this woman's strength in sharing her life and heart with us. It helped me to realize how precious even the most simplest things are to ones life and how to never take life's experiences for granted. To see or not see is truly a gift from God....

Going to the Zoo

You'll be singing it all day!
I work at a daycare and we have 15 kids between 18 months and 3 years. This is by far their favorite book! The song is extremely catchy and the pictures that go along with it are fun and simple enough the even the littles ones can recognize the animals. Since they know all the words they don't mind missing some of the song to roar at the pictures of the bear and lion, or scritch, scritch, scratch like the monkeys! Highly recommended.

GOING TO THE ZOO
This is a wonderful book! Full of bright colors, silly pictures, and catchy rhythms. This is my 2 year old's favorite book. We have to read it at least 3 times a day. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read to their children. See you at the "Zoo, zoo, zoo".

Golden Chances (Homespun)

Author: Rebecca Hagan Lee

A Must-Read!!
I am generally not one to pick up a Historical-type book of any kind. Including a Romance set back in the "olden" days. Luckily, I put my predjudices aside and read Golden Chances. I'm glad that I did. It was hard to put down! I laughed and I cried as Faith and Reese met, and fell in love - in some pretty strange circumstances. It's a wonderful read, and I'd recommend it to anyone - especially those of you, who wouldn't necessarily pick up a Historical book!

I couldn't put this down!!!!!
This book was so good I literally could not put it down!!! I was up until three in the morning reading this book. The story is so interesting that I found myself cheering for Faith and cursing Resse when he did something utterly stupid. This is a must read!
